Curious George: Let's Get Curious!
Based on the familiar characters in H.A. and Margret Rey's classic stories and inspired by the animated television series on PBS KIDS, the exhibit presents key concepts in science, math and engineering, which are woven throughout the exhibit.

Activities invite visitors to learn like George through direct experience and problem solving:
  • Play with color, light, and shadow in Curious George's Apartment Building
  • Sort and weigh fruits and vegetables at the Produce Stand
  • Use science skills to putt 3 holes of Mini Golf
  • Build a whirligig and experiment with wind power in The Farm
  • Explore the Space Rocket and more!

Talking About Tots
Melissa Janssen, M.S., a Research Clinician at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, will present: “Run, Dance, & Play! Establishing Physical Activity Habits to Last a Lifetime.” Physical activity is important to many aspects of child health and development, and early childhood is a critical time for establishing healthy routines and behaviors that will carry over into later childhood and adolescence. We will discuss development of physical skills, some practical tips to encourage unstructured and structured physical activity, and the various benefits of maintaining this healthy lifestyle.

Presentation will conclude with opportunity to build a toy.

Meghan Hinderer, an Occupational Therapist at the Kennedy Krieger Institute will present: “Motor Milestones:  How to enhance your child's gross and fine motor skills through play”. Attendees will learn about fine motor and gross motor milestones for infants and toddlers.  Parents will learn strategies to encourage motor development through play and exploration of their environment and how successful participation in motor activities can impact engagement and attention.
